This drawing explores the eye concept and was inspired by the TDK advertisements of the late 1990s. If you recall they featured men and women with large and oddly shaped eyes and ears and the catch phrase - "TDK does amazing things to my system". As it was an impromptu drawing I used what I could find around the house, an A4 piece of copy paper and my Derwent graphic sketching pencils.

Fashions fade, style is eternal
Today I post a short film by Karim Sadli, a very talented Photographer from Paris. Karim has collaborated with Yves Saint Laurent to reveal to the world its Spring/Summer 2011 eyewear collection.
I urge you to watch the film, it is epic the music just screams style and sophistication... observe the amazing display of shadow and light and how it transforms the objects. Doesn't it just inspire you to buy a pair of glasses!?

Eye wonder...
No more wondering... I have decided this blog will focus on expressing my creative side and sharing my thoughts and inspirations in life.
Today, I share some drawings which I did in 1999 as part of a developmental process for an Art project. I was interested in faces, especially eyes. This image was from the 'SwissAir' advertising campaign, there was text written over the models faces but I just liked the words 'I wonder' and of course the eyes. I also liked that the photo had captured the intricate details of the iris and pupil. I tried to replicate it in the above drawing, using a HB pencil and mechanical pencil for sharp details.
Below, I tried a dot technique using a fine-line pen, I really liked the result. I remember my next idea was to experiment with colour - I think pencils or watercolours. I may revisit this in the next few days and post the result!
